Vista Murrieta Recap 10/08/2011
Vista Murrieta Field Show
Ayala had a great start to their season this past weekend. After students finished their Saturday practice everyone helped to load the semi. Since it was the first time, we were taking props it took a while to figure out the configuration. As always with new props there are little things here and there that will have to be tweaked, but that didn’t slow down our fearless Scott Harwood from loading the semi in record time. Now it was off to Murrieta for our first WBA tournament of the 2011 season.
At the high school, many boosters, parents and friends helped to off load the semi of instruments, equipment and uniforms so that our students could prepare for their show. It always requires a lot of help to prepare for competitions and everyone is welcome to come out and lend a hand. We had parents helping with uniforms, cleaning shoes, putting plumes (feathers) into student hats, supplying water, as well as moving instruments to and from the semi.
As parents and boosters began to gather in the stands, it was obvious to our students as they took the field, that they had a large support group to cheer them on. “RED” blossomed as our students competed and we all knew all their hard work and effort was paying off. With Ayala Band and Color Guard marching their way to a complete sweep, winning First Place with a Final Score of 78.05 and all the Caption Awards (Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect). The band also took 1st place in Auxiliary (Color Guard). Congratulation to all!
It was great to see the sea of black and red jackets and parents waving when Ayala was announced. Again, thank you to everyone for your help and support this past weekend and for the many months leading up to the start of this season.
