2011 WBA Grand Champions 11/20

 Ayala Band and Colorguard

2011 Western Band Association

Grand Champions

The Ayala HS Band and Color Guard competed this past weekend in Santa Barbara in the WBA – Western Bands Association Grand Championships. They competed against 67 other bands and won the title of Grand Champion and Class Champion – Gold Medalists. This is the first time that Ayala has ever won this prestigious event since the circuit inception in 1995.  Since 1999, the James Logan HS Band and Color Guard from Northern California has never been defeated in this head to head competition at this event.  Ayala won by more than a point which is a large margin.

Ayala’s show is entitled (RED). During the marching band season that begun in September, Ayala was undefeated and carried all Caption Awards such as Best Music, Best General Effect, Best Visuals, Best Percussion and Best Color Guard.  At the WBA Championships, Ayala won Best General Effect, Best Visual and Best Auxiliary in Prelims. In Finals (during a rain storm), Ayala won Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect with a score of 96.70 out of a possible of 100.

Ayala has 205 members in the band and is under the direction of Mark Stone, Director of Bands, and Ike Jackson, Assistant Director. Also at this Grand Championship, Chino Hills HS Marching Band completed and came in 7th and won the Best Percussion Award.
